Thoughtful tools
I've written a book for every curious and caring child. And every concerned and conflicted carer.
It's a book endorsed by Clinical Psychologist Hester Bancroft and illustrated by my talented friend Kate Phillips.
Background to my book
This book started with a question I didn’t quite know how to answer. “What if you don’t come back?”
My five-year-old asked me this as I was heading out one evening and I remember brushing past it in the moment - but thinking about it long after. Because it’s a big question. And one we’re not always prepared for.
I realised there’s a gap in how we support children with these thoughts - not just around loss, but around separation more generally. Those everyday moments when someone leaves the house, goes away for work, or simply isn’t there - and the quiet worry that can come with it.
So I wrote a children’s book to gently hold that space. A story that helps children feel reassured, safe and secure in the one thing that really matters - that they are deeply loved and that love doesn’t go anywhere.
It’s not about having perfect answers. It’s about giving children something steady to hold onto.
